People in Red Against AIDS

The Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona hosted on Monday night more than 800 people at the People in Red gala, an event organized by the Anti-AIDS Foundation to raise funds for the research of this disease. This edition has reached 926,350 euros, a figure higher than  720,000 the previous year.

The presenter of the celebration has been Jesús Vázquez, who for the second year has replaced the singer Miguel Bosé, former ambassador of the cause and traditional host in previous editions. Aitana Ocaña, Ana Guerra and Alfred García have been some of the artists who have sung in an evening attended by celebrities such as actress Macarena Gómez or former FC Barcelona footballer Carles Puyol, among others.

Dr Bonaventura Clotet, who chairs the foundation and has organized this gala, has been "very grateful" for the donations of the guests present, and for those made online in a section enabled on the Foundation's website. "Money is important for consolidating research," he said in a speech, in which he said that "a therapeutic vaccine is in the process," he said


The presenter Jesús Vázquez, for his part, has described the event as "the great night of solidarity", in a ceremony in which he has been jumping from table to table to greet those present. Singers Aitana, Ana Guerra and Alfred García have taken the stage to perform their most recent works with the help of composer Manu Guix, who has performed the musical direction. The ceremony has also featured performances by comedians Pep Plaza and David Guapo, who have put a humorous touch under the direction of television producer Toni Cruz, who has been in charge of programs such as Operation Triumph.

Unlike the previous edition, the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, has not been able to attend since tonight he presided over the award of the Alfonso Comín International Prize, in the City Council of the Catalan capital. The same has happened with the President of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, and with the spokesperson of the Govern, Meritxell Budó, who planned to attend and in the end have not been able to reach the evening. The only political representative was the Health Counsellor, Alba Vergés,

The gala has had the presence of personalities such as the sons of Dr. Clotet, Marc and Aina Clotet; the presenter Marta Torné; and the models Eugenia Silva and Vanesa Lorenzo. The dinner was also attended by singers David Civera, Miriam Rodríguez, Alba Reche, Raoul Vázquez, Lorena Gómez and Nerea Rodríguez. In addition, fashion designer Juan Avellaneda and influencers Patry Jordan, Nina Urgell or Jessica Goicoechea.
